Florida State, ranked No. 2 in the AP Poll, has clinched a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament for the first time in program history.
The Seminoles won their first ACC tournament game since 1999, beating North Carolina 82-72 on Saturday in the second round of the tournament.
The victory snapped a nine-game losing streak for Florida State and capped a three-game winning streak that included two wins in four games in the ACC tournament.
Florida State will face a top-seeded Kentucky team on Tuesday in the Sweet 16.
This is the first NCAA tournament game between the Seminoles and Kentucky since 2004.
The Wildcats, who defeated the Seminole team 74-60 in the opening round of this year’s tournament, are 1-5 all-time against Florida State in the series.
The Gators will play Duke on Tuesday.
The Blue Devils will face No. 7 seed Kansas State on Saturday.
Kansas State lost to the Wildcats 81-75 on Thursday.
Florida has won three straight games against the Wildcats, but only won two in a row when the teams met in the regular season.
