Will Griers father and former NFL quarterback will play in his first collegiate game against Clemson.
Grier will face sophomore running back Koa Misi in Miami’s game against the Tigers at 8 p.m.
EDT (11 a.m., CT).
Griers father, Mark Grier, will be honored as the starting quarterback for the Hurricanes.
With the team being on the road, Grier is eligible to play in only two games: at home vs. Washington State on Nov. 17 and at home against Notre Dame on Nov 22.
Grier has already been named to the first team all-ACC as a sophomore in 2016.
He had a Heisman Trophy-caliber season in 2017, completing 57.5 percent of his passes for 1,059 yards and eight touchdowns.
He also rushed for 1-957 yards and seven scores.
Miami will play three non-conference games in 2018: at Auburn, vs. Syracuse, and at Virginia Tech.
The Hurricanes’ non-league schedule features the ACC Tournament, which begins Oct. 25, against ACC Atlantic Sun opponents, followed by the ACC Championship Game on Nov 17.
The team will face its first non-divisional opponent, Florida State, on Oct. 6.
Miami will travel to Clemson, Florida, for its game against Notre AMece on Oct 14.
