NFL and NFLPA Commissioner Roger Goodell announced today that the NFL and the National Hockey League will play Saturday, June 5, at 8:00 pm ET in the new “Monday Night Football” (NFLN) game on CBS (NBCSN).
The NHL will play Sunday, June 6, at 10:00 am ET.
The game will air on CBS and the NFL Network.
The NFLN game will start at 8 pm ET and will be simulcast on NFL Network and CBS.
The “Monday night football” game is scheduled to start at 9:00 p.m.
ET and be available to watch on CBS.
NFLN is the first time in NFL history that both teams will play a Saturday night game in the same season.
The first game of the “Monday nights” series on NBC was the 2007 NFC Championship game between the New York Giants and the Chicago Bears.
NFL games will be televised in prime time and available to the public for an additional cost.
NFL and National Hockey Players Association (NHLPA) Executive Director Bill Daly announced today the following for the NHL: NHL Player and National Anthem Committee members will be invited to participate in the “National Anthem Committee’s” presentation at the opening ceremony for the 2018-2019 NHL season.
“The National Anthem Committees” are the players and coaches of the NHL and NHLPA, and the Anthem Committee will be in attendance at the ceremony.
“We are pleased that the NHLPA and the NHL Players Association will be representing the NHL on behalf of the fans and the players, and look forward to working together as a group to help make this season a memorable one for both leagues and our country,” said NHLPA Executive Director Paul Kelly.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said the following in a statement: “I am proud to announce today that we will be playing at the same time on Saturday night as the first NFL game on the night after Memorial Day weekend.
This marks the first-ever National Anthem for both the NFLN and the CBSN, and we will continue to work with both leagues to ensure that the fans can enjoy both shows in the most authentic way possible.”
NFL Commissioner Roger, who also announced the cancellation of the Chicago-Oakland-Kansas City NFL game the day before the NFL was to host the Dallas Cowboys, said: “The NFL has been a key partner for this season and I want to thank our players, coaches and owners for all they do for our league, and for our country, in this challenging time.”
“We’re excited to continue to make the National Anthem even more memorable for our fans,” said NFL Commissioner Bill Belichick.
“It’s a tradition that we’ve been proud to share with the NFL Players Association.
We’re excited for the fans to watch both teams play in their inaugural game.”
NFL and NGA President Jeffrey Kessler said: We are thrilled to announce that our National Anthem committee is partnering with the NHL, NGA and the league to host a National Anthem at the NFL Opening Ceremony.
The NHL and NAG will also be making a special appearance to share the anthem and to celebrate the NFL’s 20th anniversary of our founding, and it will be the first ever National Anthem event in both the NHLN and CBSN.
